3D Games production self directed: Substance designer experiments (Enhancement week) (Week 6)

This week, I wanted to focus on personal project material creation in substance designer. After searching up reference online for mosaic tiles; I picked this because it had a lot to be done, such as shape, pattern and roughness variation, which made it the perfect type of experiment to carry out.

This is the reference I used for my texture, I loved the pattern that was used here and decided to use this and my baseplate.

This is what I came up with in designer, Making sure to maintain the pattern and shape of the original reference, but also adding roughness variation, which can be seen on multiple tiles, some being completely rough and some having reflective or glossy properties like you would get on brand new tiles. Furthermore, I made sure to add dirt to the tiles to add a narrative element which made it seem like this could have just been dug up from an archaeological site.
