Slice blockout and research

Today I wanted to demonstrate my slice blockout.

What I normally do in order to get a realistic height scale, is I use a box that is roughly 188cm tall, which is my height (5'11) and use this to scale all my objects in the scene.

When I get 1 or 2 bigger props down, like a door or a wall, putting things to scale seems a lot more easier.

The blockout isn't much different from my original concept, the only key difference I made was instead of having a minor porch area, I decided this should cover the entire wall, in unison with the one opposite the wall.

Greybox? Redbox? blockout.

This is a ref board for my research.
For the overall design, I thought about this being an enclosed space and on the back wall, there could be some lanterns with emissive traits, this could aid the overall lighting in the scene and would give a nice colour balance.
Furthermore, with the industrial looking props like vents, barrels, etc, it wouldn't be that uncommon the have this urban look to it, as if the house was backing off to a factory or something similar.
