This week's focus was on the visual effects for my scene.
I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate various different types of visual effects. such as: rain, splashes and a few visual specks from the light. This adds to the scene and helps the vertex painting have a purpose.
I wanted to make the scene a night scene with rainfall, just to add to the overall atmosphere, I believe it has paid off because the visual effects help the scene stay grounded in reality.
One issue I encountered with one of the visual effects was the splash, I couldn't get the rings to have a gradient fall off, so unfortunately they are constricted to the square texture set within unreal. But overall because this is a minor effect that just adds to the scene and you wouldn't notice unless you are up close, it wouldn't need to be changed as the focus of the scene is the assets and texture work rather than the particles.
